Sidujökull, Iceland
Jökull is the Icelandic word for glacier. Layers of ash spewed out by the Icelandic volcanoes, have been deposited in the ice masses, making the Icelandic glaciers look like cakes with many black (volcanic ash) and white (ice) layers inside. They form bizarre patterns when the ice melts. (aerial view)
