Mürrenfluh, Switzerland
The vertical rock walls of Mürrenfluh in the Lauterbrunnen Valley reminds us of modern paintings. But they are the pure work of nature. The huge Ice Age glaciers have polished the limestone. The “ink strokes” are algae slicks. They grow along the little water runlets, which come out of small clefts in the rock. (aerial view)
